What types of massage does Pavel Pracny perform?

Types of Massage

Pavel’s patients ask him questions from time to time about the different types of massage that he can perform.  Here he clarifies what the differences in massage styles are.

You can subdivide massage by body parts (neck massage, foot massage, back and shoulders etc.), massage styles (deep tissue massage, trigger point release, myofascial release), country of origin (Thai massage, Balinese massage, Hawaiian massage) or by their reason (pregnancy massage, relaxation, rehabilitation, sport).

He differentiates between two main types of massage, relaxation massage and remedial massage.

Remedial massage is mainly focused on the health of your muscles and it is an umbrella term for a lot of different types of massage and techniques, including popular sports massage, rehabilitation massage, trigger point release and deep tissue massage.

Relaxation massage is mainly focused on your blood and lymph circulation systems, it is generally pain-free and involves a lot of long strokes and gentle techniques.

Remedial massage is also often used as a way to maintain good physical health in athletes and generally active people. Investing in it regularly is a great way to avoid the build-up of pain and soreness as a result of physical activity.

What types of massage can I perform?

Well, that depends on you, my patient. Most of my patients require remedial massage and I usually choose the techniques that I find best for the individual situation, injury or issue you present with. During my studies and work, I learned a wide range of massage styles and techniques including sport, remedial, rehabilitation, myofascial release, deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, soft tissue release, scar tissue massage, trigger point, muscle stretching, joint mobilisation, cupping and releasing adhesions. I can be gentle if you prefer, but most often I use quite a lot of pressure so massage with me sometimes produces some soreness, but I promise it’s extremely effective. I like to talk to my patients, encourage them to ask questions, and explain what I will do and why that way you know what you can expect.  We can always modify along the way too.

In the end, the best way to figure out how can I help you and if you like my massage style is to book a remedial massage session with me and have a treatment. I’m certain you won’t regret it and will feel so much better afterwards. I’m looking forward to seeing you at City Physio soon.
