Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the piece of connective tissue that runs from the heel to the base of the toes. If you have plantar fasciitis you will most likely be experiencing a burning pain on the arch of the foot during running and jumping or when you pull your toes up. If severe, pain can also be experienced from simply standing up or walking.

Plantar fasciitis is an overuse injury caused by repeated bouts of small tears to the fascia that cause it to become irritated and inflamed. Contributing factors can include poor foot posture, tight calves, poor footwear and weak anterior leg muscles.

With the expert guidance of your Physiotherapist you will be able to modify activity to relieve pain levels from your plantar fascia pain and actively engage in changing the factors above to help fix your pain long term.

In the event that physiotherapy treatments such as dry needling, ice massage, stretching, strengthening and taping do not help with your plantar fasciitis pain we are able to directly refer you for a diagnostic ultrasound with possible corticosteroid injection to help settle the painful area down before engaging in further preventative treatment for your plantar fascia pain.
